How do you get over an ex? Please help!!?

You never fully get over your first love. I dont know how much this will help but.... I have a similar story. We fell madly inlove then we went our seperate ways and never really got closure. We ran into eachother a few more times over the years and have kept in contact since. I still love him (ive never had the courage to ask his feelings) and even though I know we will never be together I enjoy talking to him because he is forever a part of who I am. I asked him once why it was so easy for us to fall back into old patterns and he said "because first love is the truest love and even though we arent together your happiness in life will always be a priority" maybe thats why your ex continued to contact you and maybe his gf put a stop to it.
