What happend if you get caught having weed in calgary?

What is the charge if you get caught having weed on you in calgary? Me and my buddy got caught carrying weed on us by the cop tonight. Me and one of my friend didn't have any weed on us but the other friend of mine had weed on him in my car. We were about to smoke the weed and the weed was in the pipe. we got out of the car and cop asked us some questions. Cop told us that we were under arrested by possesion of marijuana or something like that. He searched my car and found nothing but the weed less than 0.5gram which he found in the biginning. He told us to destroy the weed and we threw them out on the ground. Since we were polite to the cop, he let us go but he told us that it's gonna be on the record for possesion of weed or something like that which I can't remember and it's gonna be on the record as long as the calgary police exist.Will it be actually on the record for having less than 0.5gram of weed(which my friend had not me)? if yes, will it be on the record forever? and will it cause me any problem if I travel to other country or getting jobs?
