Got a prepaid phone but lost contacts from old phone ...Help!!!!!!!!!!?

So i broke my samsung vibrant ( galaxy s) and my mom got me a prepaid phone so i dont have my contacts. So who do i call. I remember a friend telling me about how it happend to him but his parents replaced it and that his contacts were saved in his gmail account something like that. If its in my gmail how do i acces it. Ps. My contacts are saved on the phone, thnx ;)
